Genuinely Local

genuinely LOCAL food

(Updated February 2008)

Concern about where our food comes from and how it’s produced is growing fast. Consumers want food they can trust and are increasingly choosing locally produced food, recognising that it often brings direct environmental benefits and indicates high quality and production standards. Consumers need clear and credible information to make informed choices but often feel that food labelling and information is confusing, misleading or inadequate.

genuinely LOCAL provides a clear label for locally produced food, conveying a simple message about provenance, while providing additional information on the food’s provenance, production methods and standards. genuinely LOCAL brings real meaning, clarity and assurance to local food. By specifying the county or area of origin, the label avoids any ambiguity, uncertainty or suspicions of misleading claims. Independently administered and verified, genuinely LOCAL is a credible and trustworthy mark of provenance. more»
